Peacock mental health facility $10m

Structural engineering provided for this project:
-
Footings and retaining walls
-
Suspended slab
-
Blockwork walls
-
Steel frames supporting highlights
-
Curved beams supporting roof structure
-
Remediation of heritage listed building roof
In 2016, North Hobart’s Peacock Centre was significantly damaged by arson. The facility had been the base for southern Tasmanian mental health services, and the opportunity was seized to implement a new approach to mental health care in a redeveloped facility on the site.
St Helena Gymnasium

-
Timber columns and bracing elements
-
Steel rafters
-
Timber floor beams
-
Steel columns at subfloor
-
Sprung floors
This design incorporates steel-to-timber connections that are seamlessly integrated into the timber for aesthetic purposes. The connections were carefully designed to prevent timber splitting and ensure adequate bearing strength.
Yarra Valley Grammar centre for research, $11m

Various aspects of this project:
-
Foyer timber portal frame structure and facade
-
Concrete superstructure with PT slab designs by others
-
Some concrete columns were inclined at 45 degrees
-
Curved steel highlight
-
Concrete retaining walls
-
Bionic tile support brackets
Southern support school $4.3m

-
Timber roof beams
-
Steel frame at highlights
-
Suspended concrete ground slab over bored piers
Australia Post airport facility extension

-
Steel floor structure
-
Bondek slab
-
Precast panel walls
-
Steel canopy rafters
-
Steel fascia truss
The extension to canopy required existing canopy strengthening. A steel haunch was welded to the entire length of the strengthened rafter. Connections required modifications to take additional loads.
Apartment building

This reinforced concrete apartment building features numerous cantilevered slabs. I assisted in creating a STAAD Pro model to optimize the placement of reinforcement in the most cost-effective way.

Multi functional complex

I contributed to the preliminary design of this multifunctional complex for cost estimation purposes. The complex consists of two main buildings: one housing a mall, hotel, and spa, while the other is entirely residential. Both buildings are designed using reinforced concrete columns, precast beams and panels.
